About me

Hello! My name is José Bárria. I am a 22-year-old Software Engineer with a strong passion for chess. I am finishing my MSc in Software Engineering and Computer Science at Instituto Superior Técnico - Lisbon.
Being an obsessive learner, I love sports, learning new languages, and stuff like that. I currently speak Portuguese, English and Spanish fluently, and am looking to expand that in the future!

I have been playing chess since I was 4 years old and started competing in chess tournaments at 10, having played in countless tournaments ever since. There have been many memorable moments throughout my journey, and now, 13 years later, I am trying to reach the highest chess honor possible - the Grandmaster title.
About 6 years ago, around the time of the pandemic, I also started teaching chess online. I've had quite some teaching experience already, having taught lots of players, including national champions.
